Keep alive for SIP trunk between Asterisk and Freeswitch
by Daniel Neubert 29 Jul '10

29 Jul '10

Hi, we've set up a SIP trunk between Asterisk (used as MediaGateway to SS7-Network for PSTN access) and Freeswitch. Everything works fine except one "little" issue: If there have been no calls using the SIP trunk it becomes unuseable from Freeswitch side. PSTN <- SS7/ISUP -> Asterisk <- SIP Trunk -> Freeswitch <- SIP/RTP -> VoIP Clients If a user tries to originate the call that is routed to one of our MediaGateways while SIP trunk is "stale", the call will fail. The trunk can be made available again by calling in via PSTN -> Asterisk -> SIP-Trunk This is our gateway configuration (tried using low values for expire-seconds, ping and retry-seconds to keep the connection up: <gateway name="voip-int-test"> <param name="username" value="voip-ext-test"/> <param name="password" value="freeswitch"/> <param name="proxy" value="172.31.45.43"/> <param name="register" value="false"/> <param name="expire-seconds" value="15"/> <param name="ping" value="5"/> <param name="retry-seconds" value="5"/> <param name="context" value="default"/> <param name="apply-inbound-acl" value="voip-int-test"/> <param name="caller-id-in-from" value="true"/> </gateway> -- Best regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Daniel

Register in external profile
by Raymond Chan 29 Jul '10

29 Jul '10

Hi, I encounter a problem on freeswitch that have SIP phone registration in external profile. All my SIP phones are located in overseas and all of them are registered in external profile. I have a IDAP forwarding the numbers from a Cisco gateway to freeswitch. All the phones have own phone number (not extension number). However, when the freeswitch received the SIP call, it cannot forward the call to SIP phone. What should I put in the public dialplan? <extension name="NWT_DID_3175xxxx"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="3175xxxx"> <action application="transfer" data="?"/> </condition> </extension> Thanks Raymond

I'm curious who people use for DNS. Looking for a provider that is reliable and also has SRV and NAPTR support. DynDNS tells me they don't support those record types.

simulate more than 100 calls
by Abubacker siddiq 28 Jul '10

28 Jul '10

Dear community , I have written a inbound socket which monitors the fifo queue , I have a twinkle soft phone to check a couple of calls at a time in a fifo it works, but I want to test with 100 calls or more in a queue to check the performance of the script, Is there any way to simulate this. Thanks in advance ! -- BEST REGARDS N.ABUBACKER SOFTWARE ENGINEER BK SYSTEMS (P) LTD CHENNAI-23

[ERR] switch_cpp:910 object is not initalized
by Phillip Jones 28 Jul '10

28 Jul '10

Hi there, I have an application written in mod_managed that receives a call, originates a call and then bridges the call when the user answers. This app will be extended to call several recipients and offer several chooses when a user answers (so I can not use the stock group_confirm functionality) I am load testing my application with SIPP. At a low cps the application reports no errors. As I increase the call rate I see: [ERR] switch_cpp:910 object is not initalized error message reported by FS. Line 910 seems to coorolate to a Session.Ready() request. To avoid accessing sessions that no longer exist I set my managed session = null in the hanguphook. I am a bit worried by this, because I am thinking this is indicative of a threading issue - i.e. I am not talking to the session I think I am tallking to. Is the Managed session thread safe? Are there any common gotchas? Also should I worry too much about this "object is not initalized" error? Will they cause an issue. On the plus side I can pump 80,000 calls at 5-10 cps through this system with no hung/orphaned channels - so that makes me think the system is ok. Its just those pesky error reports :) Any insight would be welcome. Thanks Phil

mod_lcr + nibble_bill + leg B
by Madovsky 28 Jul '10

28 Jul '10

Hi, I followed the article at http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_lcr to activate nibble bill with mod_lcr on leg B, but the nibble bill account is not debited. I tried to put <action application="lcr" data="${dialed_extension} public"/> in dialplan with no success, it generates a "bad gateway" error when I tried to call the user from outside FS. did I forget to set something ? Thanks F
