Finally an iPhone app that connects with SIP to FreeSWITCH. I tried it out, and it works perfect with my FreeSWITCH installation. Can be downloaded at iTunes App Store. Ivan

ODBC Dropping
by peder＠networkoblivion.com 08 Oct '08

I have ODBC going to mysql on the same box as FS and I keep having issues where it is dropping and then coming back. Any ideas where this might be occurring or how to fix it? FYI, the connection is broken long before I get the error messages below. I actually get those when the connection comes back up. Again, all of this is on the same box, so it isn't a lan/wan issue or anything like that. I suspect I will get a "update to the latest", but I wanted to check if there are any known issues before I do that. freeswitch@freebert> version FreeSWITCH Version 1.0.trunk (9577) freeswitch@freebert> 2008-10-08 08:05:25 [CRIT] switch_odbc.c:248 db_is_up() The sql server is not responding for DSN freeswitch [STATE: 24000 CODE 0 ERROR: [unixODBC][MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-4.1.22-log]Invalid cursor state ] 2008-10-08 08:05:25 [INFO] switch_odbc.c:253 db_is_up() The connection has been re-established

Core Dump Ubuntu 8.04 64Bit
by Peter P GMX 08 Oct '08

08 Oct '08

My Freeswitch on an 64bit Ubuntu server crashed with a core dump and there are no infos in the log. Sometimes it crashes while loading the codecs, sometimes it finishes loading and then crashes. After all prerequisites were finished it compiled and installed well. But program execution crashes: See example: FreeSWITCH Version 1.0.trunk (9890) Started. Crash Protection [Disabled] Max Sessions[1000] Session Rate[30] SQL [Enabled] Segmentation fault (core dumped) Syslog says: Oct 8 16:31:46 loft1053 kernel: [ 4779.404593] freeswitch[8158]: segfault at 61ccf7d0 rip 7f10595d0bf7 rsp 7fff61ccee70 error 4 Are there any known issues with 64 bit Ubuntu? Best regards Peter

VoipTalk NAT
by Andy Ayers 08 Oct '08

08 Oct '08

Hi, This is my first post so my apologies if I get the protocol wrong or if I'm posting to the wrong place. Has anyone any experience of setting up Freeswitch to accept incoming calls via VoipTalk (http://www.voiptalk.org) through a firewall/router. I have tried every possible combination of domain/realm and proxy settings but can't get it working. Everything works fine when the freeswitch machine is connected directly to the modem and a software voip-phone runs ok on the same machine through the router so the firewall is letting the traffic through. Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks Andy

Outbound calls from the CLI in Python Part II
by Marc Orenberg 08 Oct '08

08 Oct '08

I figured out I can make an outbound call from the CLI in Python as follows: def fsapi(session, stream, env, args): session = Session("{ignore_early_media=true}sofia/gateway/" + SIP_CARRIER + "/" + phone_number) Unfortunately, I need to be able to set the caller id before making the call, and I don't think I can do that when I start dialing the call at the same time that I create the new session. But if I try to originate the call separately from the creation of the session: def fsapi(session, stream, env, args): session = Session() session.setCallerData("caller_id_name", CALLER_NAME) session.setCallerData("caller_id_number", CALLER_NUMBER) session.execute("originate","{ignore_early_media=true}sofia/gateway/" + SIP_CARRIER + "/" + phone_number) I run into what I think may be a bug; after creating the session I get errors like: setCallerData() session is not initalized setCallerData() session is not initalized execute() session is not initalized As far as I know, there is no initialization routine to call. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks, Marc

Hi, I've a litle problem again :D .. My solution: - I've freeswitch working like endpoint; - Freeswitch is registred in my sip proxy; - When I recieve call (in my freeswitch using* pa answer*) works, but when i make a call using *pa call <number>* .. the other phone don't ring. This message appears to me during the freeswitch boot. 2008-10-07 11:53:47 [ERR] mod_portaudio.c:847 load_config() Invalid ring device configured using output device! freeswitch 1.0.1 /mod_radius_cdr generates wrong framed-IP-address radius attribut
by Tchavdar Paskov 07 Oct '08

07 Oct '08

Hello everyone, i have a very interesting/stubborn issue to deal with. Recently i installed freeswitch and compiled the radius module with it. The idea was to collect all CDRs in POstgres Database. Everything looked ok untill i decided to examine the generated records: Acct-Status-Type = Stop Acct-Session-Id = "74826237-32e6-4076-b63d-c328f4c22213" Freeswitch-Hangupcause = Originator-Cancel User-Name = "cc150" Freeswitch-Src = "cc150" Freeswitch-CLID = "cc150" Freeswitch-Dst = "00312132268081" Freeswitch-Dialplan = "XML" Framed-IP-Address = 46.50.57.49 Freeswitch-Context = "default" Freeswitch-Source = "mod_sofia" Freeswitch-Lastapp = "bridge" Freeswitch-Billusec = 0 Freeswitch-Callstartdate = "2008-10-06T23:58:03.830770-0400" Freeswitch-Callenddate = "2008-10-06T23:58:11.763842-0400" Acct-Session-Time = 0 NAS-Port = 0 Acct-Delay-Time = 0 NAS-IP-Address = 192.168.1.148 nothing interesting here you'll probably say./ i thought the same /. Framed-IP-Address = 46.50.57.49 is the record that drives me mad and here is the reason. My understanding is that Framed-IP-Address should represent the orriginating/peering IP address. my lab is running entirely on private network 192.168.1.0 . i'm not connecting to the freeswitch from public ip and the worse of all i have no idea where 46.50.57.49 comes from. To make the confision complete this record is present in all radius generated records no matter what equipment/network settings i'm using to generate the calls. If somebody can tell me what is wrong i'll highly apreciate it. BTW i already sent message to freeradius mail list and from there they advised me that this is a NAS related issue / ergo freeswitch generates it/. Best Regards Chav

Outbound calls from the CLI in Python
by Marc Orenberg 07 Oct '08

07 Oct '08

Hello. I was wondering if origination of outbound calls from the CLI is currently supported in Python. I've been unable to find a working example of this anywhere, and when I try calling a python script from the CLI I always get an error: "Module does not define fsapi". Here's a non-working example of what I'm trying to do: import os from freeswitch import * def handler(session, args): consoleLog("INFO","Im in handler") new_session = Session() new_session.originate(session,"{ignore_early_media=true}sofia/gateway/" + SIP_CARRIER + "/" + phone_number)

xml_rpc instead of xml_curl
by Noah Silverman 06 Oct '08

06 Oct '08

Hi, I'm looking at developing a dynamic dialplan for FS. I'm curious as if the group has a suggestion as to which method would be better, and why... 1) Use mod_xml_curl to fetch the dialplan from a script 2) use mod_rpc to fetch the dialplan from a script. At first glance, it looks like both options will do essentially the same thing. My goal is to have a bunch of routing tables in mysql and then use a short php script to lookup the cheapest route and return the correct dialplan for a given call. Can anybody offer any suggestions? Thanks, -N
