Welcome to July! We've had lot's of great news<http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20130624-907435.html> lately with FreeSWITCH and now there's even more. Our friends at Yealink have reported on a very large VoIP installation in Spain that utilizes Yealink phones and FreeSWITCH servers. The complete writeup can be found here <http://www.yealink.com/News_info.aspx?NewsId=330&CateId=306>. We look forward to reporting on more success stories in the future. With the recent announcement <http://freeswitch.org/node/455> about FreeSWITCH 1.4 beta and WebRTC support there has been a lot of interest in just how to make this all work. On this week's conference call<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_07_03> we will be taking a closer look at the code and showing you how to setup both sides of a WebRTC connection with FreeSWITCH. Please join usthis Wednesday at 1PM Eastern, 10AM Pacific for this interesting discussion. We also had an interesting discussion on last week's conference call<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_06_26>. Lorenzo Magani and Alexandr Dubovikov from the HOMER<http://www.sipcapture.org/> project gave us a tour of their new version 3.5 release. The HOMER SIP capture system is an excellent - and free - tool that can be put into production with any FreeSWITCH server. HOMER is an invaluable tool used for SIP diagnostics and troubleshooting and we highly recommend it for anyone using FreeSWITCH and SIP in a production environment. Have a great week and we'll talk to you on Wednesday. -- Michael S Collins ClueCon Team http://www.cluecon.com 877-7-4ACLUE

Greetings! We are all looking forward to our upcoming conference call<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_06_19>for June 19th, because we are releasing the official ClueCon 2013 <http://www.cluecon.com> speaker schedule! Additionally, the FreeSWITCH core developer team will be on the conference call to hang out with us. Let's all be there this Wednesday and pack out the conference call! In addition to FreeSWITCH, the core development team also built the Cudatel Communication Server <http://www.cudatel.com>. On last week's conference call <http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_06_12> we did a thorough tour of the CudaTel interface and its capabilities. We also talked about how the CudaTel can utilize external call control by utilizing an HTTAPI server. The CudaTel really is a great product and we highly recommend it for those enterprises that need a simple yet powerful IP communications platform. Thanks for your time and we'll talk to everyone on Wednesday! -- Michael S Collins ClueCon Team http://www.cluecon.com 877-7-4ACLUE

Happy 2nd week of June to everyone. We want to remind everyone that on June 19th we will be releasing the ClueCon 2013 <http://www.cluecon.com> schedule on the FreeSWITCH community conference call <http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_06_19>, so please be there. As an added bonus the whole FreeSWITCH dev team will be on hand and hanging out with the community. On occasion we like to acknowledge community members who've stepped up and made a difference in a way that benefits the FreeSWITCH project as a whole as well as those who use it. Our friend Call Leeming has been doing a great job of doing triage on the FreeSWITCH bug tracker<http://jira.freeswitch.org>. In fact, just today he reported<http://lists.freeswitch.org/pipermail/freeswitch-users/2013-June/096500.html>on checking five Jira tickets. We appreciate these efforts and we encourage everyone to take a few moments to peruse the open tickets and look for items where they can assist, even if it's merely testing the validity of a bug report. Thank you to everyone who helps out. After having open community discussions these past few weeks we will have a formal presentation this week<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_06_12>by yours truly. In response to numerous requests we have decided to do a demonstration of the CudaTel <http://www.cudatel.com> Communication Server. I will be giving a tour of the CudaTel user interface and we will be glad to answer questions. I think you will be impressed with the hard work that the core FreeSWITCH team has put into building the CudaTel. We look forward to talking to you on Wednesday. -- Michael S Collins Twitter: @mercutioviz http://www.FreeSWITCH.org http://www.ClueCon.com http://www.OSTAG.org

Happy Tuesday to you all! It is a short week for us here in the U.S. as yesterday was a national holiday. The first order of business: I am happy to let you know that Packt Publishing <http://www.packtpub.com> has informed us that the new FreeSWITCH 1.2 book <http://www.packtpub.com/freeswitch-1-2/book> is available as of May 24th! Congrats to the FreeSWITCH team for getting yet another book published. This is the third one we've done with Packt. Also, many thanks to all those who spent time answering questions and helping us with the technical reviewing process. With the new book completed we focus our attention on other things, not the least of which is ClueCon 2013 <http://www.cluecon.com>. Starting this week, those who've submitted talk proposals will be receiving the official acceptance of their presentations, including the day and time for the presentation. If you have not already submitted a talk proposal please do so right away as we have a limited number of available speaking slots. Our weekly conference calls have been lively with discussions on various topics suggested by those calling in. On last week's call<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_05_22>we had a particularly nice discussion about mod_skinny <http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_skinny>. A relatively new community member, Nathan Neulinger, has really done a nice job of picking up the torch for mod_skinny. If you have a need to use Cisco phones with FreeSWITCH using SCCP<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinny_Call_Control_Protocol>then definitely listen <http://torrents.freeswitch.org/conf_call_2013-05-22.torrent> to last week's discussion. This week <http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_05_29> we have Martin from the VoIPMonitor.org project. We look forward to learning more about VoIPMonitor and how it can help us with keeping tabs on our VoIP servers. Have a great week! -- Michael S Collins ClueCon Team http://www.cluecon.com 877-7-4ACLUE

Hello! The FreeSWITCH team is busy on several fronts but the most exciting news at the moment is that Packt Publishing has told us the new book<http://www.packtpub.com/freeswitch-1-2/book>is officially off to production! If all goes well it should be available in the next few weeks. (It looks like they changed the cover art - once we know for sure what's on the cover we'll give it a nickname like we did with the "bridge" book.) Last week we had an impromptu discussion<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_05_15>on various FreeSWITCH topics. We have rescheduled the VoIPMonitor.org conference call presentation for May 29th. Also, we have tentatively scheduled the HOMER presentation for June 5. That means we will have another open discussion<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_05_22>for this Wednesday's conference call. As a tip, if you would like to browse around and see what has been committed in FreeSWITCH lately you can use the Fisheye site<http://fisheye.freeswitch.org/>. Here you can browse the source code and look at recent commits to see what has changed. If you prefer to look at the commits without the source code browser then try out the HTML front-end <http://fisheye.freeswitch.org/>for our FreeSWITCH git repository. We also have repositories for contributions <http://git.freeswitch.org/git/freeswitch-contrib/> and sample configuration <http://git.freeswitch.org/git/freeswitch-sample-configs/>sets. A belated happy new week to you all! As Ken mentioned in his email yesterday<http://lists.freeswitch.org/pipermail/freeswitch-users/2013-May/095530.html>, the big news from last week is, of course, the release of FreeSWITCH 1.2.9 stable. This is now the "latest stable" version of FreeSWITCH and the one most recommended for production use. The tarball<http://files.freeswitch.org/freeswitch-1.2.9.tar.bz2> is available from theusual location <http://files.freeswitch.org/>. The CentOS and Debian packages have also been updated to use the latest stable. On last week's conference call<https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_05_08> we welcomed Dan from the CGRateS project <http://www.cgrates.org/>. CGRateS is a relatively new project that handles call rating for carrier-grade operations. We are happy to have CGRateS (an open-source project itself) as part of the FreeSWITCH ecosystem. On this week's call <https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_05_15> we look at another VoIP-related OSS project: VoIPMonitor.org<http://voipmonitor.org/>. This software performs a number of monitoring functions for VoIP implementations. Please join us tomorrow at 1PM EDT, 10AM PDT for an interesting discussion. One ClueCon reminder: We are still accepting speaking proposals, however time is running out so please send them in as soon as possible. We hope to have the ClueCon 2013 schedule released in the next few weeks. Take care and have a great week! -- Michael S Collins Twitter: @mercutioviz http://www.FreeSWITCH.org http://www.ClueCon.com http://www.OSTAG.org

Happy first May Monday to all. We are please to let everyone know that the new FreeSWITCH book<http://www.packtpub.com/freeswitch-1-2/book>is nearing completion. Each day the Packt editors have been sending us revised and re-revised chapters to polish off. If we keep up our current pace then it is quite likely the book will be available in early June. We hope you enjoy it. On last week's call <http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_05_01>we enjoyed a nice presentation from Omar over at OrecX <http://www.orecx.com> who showed us some of the useful features of their call recording solutions. They have an open source version as well as commercial versions. If you are looking for a call recording solution then we recommend that you review what OrecX has to offer. This week <http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_05_08> we continue in our series of presentations on FreeSWITCH-compatible software applications. We look forward to having Dan Bogos from CGRateS<http://www.cgrates.org/>join us to talk about their project. Click here <http://cgrates.readthedocs.org/en/latest/introduction.html> to get a quick look at what CGRateS does, and then make plans to join our call on Wednesday. Regarding ClueCon 2013 we would like to remind everyone that we are still accepting talk proposals. If you have a talk idea please let us know. In the meantime feel free to get registered <http://cluecon.com/register/> and book your hotel room at the Hyatt. Have a great week! -- Michael S Collins ClueCon Team http://www.cluecon.com 877-7-4ACLUE

Hello Friends, We are looking forward to a busy but good week of activity. Last week was busy as well. On last week's conference call<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_04_24>we had an engineer from JiraSoft <http://www.jerasoft.net/products/vcs/index.html> join us to answer some questions about the newly released VCS 2.4.3. We are happy to have this new version as part of the FreeSWITCH ecosystem<http://freeswitch.org/node/447>. This week <http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_05_01> we welcome Omar from OrecX <http://www.orecx.com/>. OrecX creates commercial and open source telephony recording solutions. We look forward to learning more about how we can use OrecX with FreeSWITCH. One other bit of good news: All of the content for the new FreeSWITCH book<http://www.packtpub.com/freeswitch-1-2/book>has been submitted to the publishers. We are doing a bit of editing on one of the chapters but otherwise we are basically done. We anticipate a June release. Take care and have another fantastic week! -- Michael S Collins ClueCon Team http://www.cluecon.com 877-7-4ACLUE
