Welcome to the last week of July! The big news from last week was announced on the weekly conference call<https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_07_24>: FreeSWITCH 1.2.12 was officially released<http://www.freeswitch.org/node/458>. This is now the recommended production release of FreeSWITCH. We also had a simple FreeSWITCH programming how-to on using channel variables with examples from mod_valet_parking<http://fisheye.freeswitch.org/changelog/freeswitch.git?cs=01d45ae506f50cdef…>and mod_voicemail<http://fisheye.freeswitch.org/changelog/freeswitch.git/?cs=13de330> . On this week's conference call<https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_07_31>we are glad to have with us long-time FreeSWITCH community member and code contributor Chris Rienzo. Chris has lots of experience with handling media for various applications, such as you'd use with mod_unimrcp<https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_unimrcp>. This week Chris will be discussing the theme "mod_spandsp - it's not just for faxing!" Mod_spandsp <https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_spandsp>makes use of the powerful SpanDSP library <http://www.soft-switch.org/> and Chris will show us some of the interesting things that this makes available for FreeSWITCH users. For those of you coming to ClueCon 2013 <http://www.cluecon.com>: we'll see you next week! We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again. If you haven't registered for ClueCon or booked your room yet then we highly recommend that you do so right away. We hope to see you all at the can't-miss event of the season! Talk to you next week - from Chicago! -- Michael S Collins Twitter: @mercutioviz http://www.FreeSWITCH.org http://www.ClueCon.com http://www.OSTAG.org

Greetings FreeSWITCH users! WebRTC continues to be a hot topic. We've had a lot of interest in the subject since the announcement <http://freeswitch.org/node/455> of FreeSWITCH 1.4 beta. On last week's conference call<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_07_03>we had Ken Rice show us just how easy it is to get a WebRTC-enable page up and running very easily using sipML5 <http://www.sipml5.org> or JsSIP<http://www.jssip.net>. FreeSWITCH users are also welcome to view our WebRTC page's<https://webrtc.freeswitch.org/webrtc/portal.html>underlying code for inspiration. This week we will be doing a community discussion<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_07_10>highlighting some recent mailing list topics. We will also be entertaining questions from the audience, so if you have have a FreeSWITCH question please join us on Wednesday. In ClueCon news we are happy to let you know that everyone who registers by Friday, July 12th will triple their chances of winning some great prizes, including the 10 Android tablets that will be given away this year. Simply click the "Register Now" button on the ClueCon site <http://www.cluecon.com>to complete the registration process. Also, plan on being in Chicago on Monday August 5th so that you can hang out with the team and meet other ClueCon attendees. Can you believe that ClueCon 2013 is less than a month away? Have a great week and we will talk to you on Wednesday. -- Michael S Collins ClueCon Team http://www.cluecon.com 877-7-4ACLUE

Welcome to July! We've had lot's of great news<http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20130624-907435.html> lately with FreeSWITCH and now there's even more. Our friends at Yealink have reported on a very large VoIP installation in Spain that utilizes Yealink phones and FreeSWITCH servers. The complete writeup can be found here <http://www.yealink.com/News_info.aspx?NewsId=330&CateId=306>. We look forward to reporting on more success stories in the future. With the recent announcement <http://freeswitch.org/node/455> about FreeSWITCH 1.4 beta and WebRTC support there has been a lot of interest in just how to make this all work. On this week's conference call<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_07_03> we will be taking a closer look at the code and showing you how to setup both sides of a WebRTC connection with FreeSWITCH. Please join usthis Wednesday at 1PM Eastern, 10AM Pacific for this interesting discussion. We also had an interesting discussion on last week's conference call<http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_06_26>. Lorenzo Magani and Alexandr Dubovikov from the HOMER<http://www.sipcapture.org/> project gave us a tour of their new version 3.5 release. The HOMER SIP capture system is an excellent - and free - tool that can be put into production with any FreeSWITCH server. HOMER is an invaluable tool used for SIP diagnostics and troubleshooting and we highly recommend it for anyone using FreeSWITCH and SIP in a production environment. Have a great week and we'll talk to you on Wednesday. -- Michael S Collins ClueCon Team http://www.cluecon.com 877-7-4ACLUE
