Freeswitch Video Capture and Playback
I'm using ekiga with mod_fsv, trying to record and play back video. When I dial the record extension, it seems to record something, as the video file gets bigger. Trying then to dial the extension for play back, just hangs up, with freeswitch saying: od_fsv.c:247 File version does not match! There seems to be no information on the FSV format or the mod_fsv module on the wiki. Is this at all supposed to work?. What clients and codecs were successful?. Any pointers as to what I can try?. -- Esben Stien is b0ef@e s a http://www. s t n m irc://irc. b - i . e/%23contact sip:b0ef@ e e jid:b0ef@ n n

I get the same message when trying to playback. I've added a few debug lines - it looks as if the 'version' is never written to the file during video record. I believe this is because the following line (in mod_fsv) returns false: if (switch_channel_test_flag(channel, CF_VIDEO)) { Maybe I should infer from this that the channel I'm trying to record isn't sending video. I'm using XLite on windows - I start a 'video call' and whilst the call is started I suspect it hasn't been able to negotiate video and perhaps fallen back to audio. XLite does H.263 and H.263+. try latest trunk. I added some code to wait for the video and only allow recording when video is established. this mod_fsv is only a test app and really we would like to get someone to write a mp4 or some other multimedia format module. Thanks Anthony, I'm very impressed with the quick response. The additional waiting/logging makes things clearer. Your new code is waiting for the video and never getting it. You need to add the H26x codec in freeswitch available codecs list (global_codec_prefs or outbound_codec_prefs, check in the wiki the one that applies here). François On Fri, 26 Mar 2010 01:35:12 -0800 (PST), OwenW <williams.owen@gmail.com> wrote: -

Thanks that works but video is very choppy. I get lots of artefacts even if I move my head even slightly. It looks like its going through a very small pipe. Freeswitch is returning the following SDP: v=0 o=FreeSWITCH 1269580573 1269580574 IN IP4 192.168.30.10 s=FreeSWITCH c=IN IP4 192.168.30.10 t=0 0 m=audio 30316 RTP/AVP 0 101 a=rtpmap:0 PCMU/8000 a=rtpmap:101 telephone-event/8000 a=fmtp:101 0-16 a=silenceSupp:off - - - - a=ptime:20 m=video 17834 RTP/AVP 115 a=rtpmap:115 H263-1998/90000 I've tried doing things on the soft phone - I can increase the send bit rate and reduce the definition but its still choppy. Is this some way to increase the bit-rate on freeswitch side? Owen I update vars.xml with: <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="global_codec_prefs=G7221@32000h,G7221@16000h,G722,PCMU,PCMA,GSM,H263,H263-1998"/> I can record and playback video using mod_fsv (thanks Anthony!). No because FreeSWITCH doesn't encode the video... its returning exactly what was received packet by packet. So to clarify you sent crappy video to FreeSWITCH, It wrote it down, You called back and viewed the crappy video coming back at you. :P /b On Mar 26, 2010, at 9:25 AM, OwenW wrote:

What?! You mean FreeSWITCH doesn't have mod_change_crap_to_gold?! :P Yep, this sounds like a classic case of garbage in, garbage out... -MC On Fri, Mar 26, 2010 at 7:32 AM, Brian West <brian@freeswitch.org> wrote:
