Set the outgoing caller id
Hi all, I worked since 2 years with asterisk. But now I must use the Windows Platform. So I found Freeswitch. The first works with Freeswitch are very good, but I can't set the outgoing caller id. The outgoing caller id is shown at the phone on the end of the line. I try some different variables but without result. My voip provider support to set the callerid, in asterisk it works. .... <include> <context name="default"> <extension name="voicetrading.com"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^00(\d+)$"> <action application="set" data="effective_caller_id_name=009012345678"/> <action application="set" data="effective_caller_id_number=009012345678"/> <action application="set" data="outbound_caller_id_name=009012345678"/> <action application="set" data="outbound_caller_id_number=009012345678"/> <action application="bridge" data="sofia/gateway/voicetrading.com/00000$1"/> </condition> </extension> .... Can anyone give me a idea for what can I do. Kind regards Erkan Unlu
Some providers have different ways of handling this. Using "effective_caller_id_number" and name are the usual ways of doing it. However some providers pick up the caller ID from a different field. Try experimenting with this: http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Channel_Variables#sip_cid_type Perhaps a bridge line like this would work: <action application="bridge" data="{sip_cid_type=rpid}sofia/gateway/ voicetrading.com/00000$1"/> OR <action application="bridge" data="{sip_cid_type=pid}sofia/gateway/ voicetrading.com/00000$1"/> Please try it and let us know what happens. -MC 2010/3/25 Erkan Ünlü <erkan@speedingtrade.com>

The outgoing caller id don't work. I try many different fields/variables and also analyze your web link about the Channel Variables. The outgoing id works for internal calls. But for external calls don't worked. My provider support the outgoing caller id. Here my example from Asterisk. That works. exten => _00XX.,1,Set(CALLERID(num)=00492222222) exten => _00XX.,n,Set(CALLERID(name)=00492222222) .... The variables caller_id_name ande caller_id_number are read only. Yes I set it to true, but no change. I found another interesting thing. If I understand it right. <action application="set" data="dialed_number=00491234567890"/> If I set this variable. So I change the goal of dialing number. But the variable are not set. If I change it in the bridge line <action application="bridge" data="sofia/gateway/voicetrading.com/000004955555555"/> So doesn’t matter which number I call I call everytime the 004955555555. Erkan, be aware that a lot of variables are available, all can be changed, but sometimes, it won't change anything. Some variables will affect leg B, and should be defined with export app, not with set. Some can be defined with the set app because they are automatically exported. And some won't change anything on leg B, even if set. In your case, I suspect your provider expects the CLID in a particular field, or as someone else said, they forbid you to send a CLID different from the DIDs they assigned to you. have you tried to set:
<param name="caller-id-in-from" value="true"/>
in the gateway params ?
Also, your provider is supposed to tell you which field they will trust as the CLID.

Some providers have different ways of handling this. Using "effective_caller_id_number" and name are the usual ways of doing it. However some providers pick up the caller ID from a different field. Try experimenting with this:

Perhaps a bridge line like this would work:

Get a pcap of the working caller ID setup on your Asterisk box and then another pcap of the non-working setup on your FS box. Find out which field the provider is using. Evidently they are doing something really stupid because all of the methods that have been enumerated on this list have been tested here on planet earth. :) Here's some tips in case you need to get started with packet captures. Also, Wireshark is handy for analyzing pcaps from tcpdump: http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Packet_Capture -MC 2010/3/29 Erkan Ünlü <erkan@speedingtrade.com>
