Deb official package need to be in accordance with debian rules. This apply also for debian files in trunk. As they are, I think, they need second look. On Ubuntu -8.10 you can compile fresswitch with no problem, but problems are during creating packages (version 1.0.2) - I needed them to install in machine with compiler. At least, I got problem with -Werror (needed to modify Makefile) and I find that post install debian file does not create proper ownership for directory freswitch. koliqi On Tue, Feb 3, 2009 at 11:57 AM, Brian West <brian@freeswitch.org> wrote:
I came to the conclusion that it doesn't matter what we want, people will package it like they want... we might as well be involved in it than turn people away which in the end will increase support time because you have ten people making a package for debian vs one official package.

Brian, be careful.
The debian standards wants daemons to be installed in fixed places (for example, freeswitch in /usr/sbin fs_cli in /usr/bin, modules in /usr/lib/freeswitch/ and so on)
Even if having the official patches in trunk would be a very good option, probabily it will break the freeswitch rules to have a common pattern among all build systems (that is everything in /opt/ freeswitch).
I know you wanted everything in /opt/freeswitch to handle support requests better.
This is just FYI!
