Deb official package need to be in accordance with  debian rules. This apply also for debian files in trunk. As they are, I think, they  need second look. On Ubuntu -8.10 you can compile fresswitch with no problem, but problems are during creating packages (version 1.0.2) - I needed them to install in machine with compiler. At least, I got problem with -Werror (needed to modify Makefile) and I find that post install debian file does not  create proper ownership for directory freswitch.

I came to the conclusion that it doesn't matter what we want, people
will package it like they want... we might as well be involved in it
than turn people away which in the end will increase support time
because you have ten people making a package for debian vs one
official package.
