Yeah, I wasn't really satisfied with the Asterisk setup either,
especially with all extra settings that I don't fully understand and
adding stuff to /etc/hosts. I've been using this account for a couple
of years with no major problems. When I first got it, I just used the
provisioning auto configuration feature to set up my Sipura ATA and
everything Just Worked (tm) even through my NAT and firewall without
any specific knowledge or configuration on my part. However, recently,
incoming calls stopped working for no obvious reason, as I hadn't
changed any relevant configuration that I know of. I emailed
Broadvoice tech support and they didn't seem to know anything useful.
That problem as well as a desire to bridge SIP calls with Jingle
prompted me to try FreeSWITCH and then Asterisk.

I do want to help, but at the moment, I have Asterisk working for both
incoming and outgoing calls and I am depending on the Broadvoice
account for incoming calls to my local number. Maybe I can get an
account with another, easier to configure provider and transfer my
number, at which point I can donate the Broadvoice account for
testing. I don't have any experience with local number portability or
whatever it's called, so I don't know how easy or quick it is to
transfer.
