Debian repository freeTDM
First, Thanks for making the repository available - really appreciate. I'm not finding freeswitch-mod-freetdm ? Is it an oversight or some other issue? The goal is to get a card I already have going with freeswitch: Digim Wildcard AEX410 4-port analog card (PCI-Express) (rev 11) going. mod_freetdm is in a weird place in our tree, which makes it a bit awkward to build with our tooling. Ken and I chatted briefly about moving mod_freetdm to src/mod/endpoints but we didn't take any action. Ken, Anthony, Moy: Any thoughts about moving mod_freetdm to our normal place for modules?
There is no reason to move it that I can think of. I can't see any reason it would create any difficulty building it where it's at. On Jul 3, 2013, at 4:03 AM, Travis Cross <tc@travislists.com> wrote:

I agree with you that is possible to build it where it is now. However, for the sake of clarity and consistency a better place would be to stay in src/mod/endpoints, we do not have the mod_sofia module in libs/sofia-sip :) *Moises Silva **Manager, Software Engineering*** msilva@sangoma.com Sangoma Technologies 100 Renfrew Drive, Suite 100, Markham, ON L3R 9R6 Canada t. +1 800 388 2475 (N. My mail server didn't receive your reply until after mine had been sent. Apparently this analogy is the obvious one :)

[Summarizing for members of the peanut gallery who weren't on the call...] It's certainly possible, it's just awkward for the existing tooling (which endeavors to keep itself automatically up to date with module additions and removals) and we don't reliably keep build/modules.conf.in up to date. I'm going to adjust the tooling to compensate (RSN). As for why I think the current location is awkward, it seems to me that if mod_freetdm belongs in libs/freetdm, then mod_sofia should go into libs/sofia-sip.

I tried to make sense of the build environment so I could make my own package - this is more complex that what I've dealt with in the past. I tried running debian/bootstrap then moved the freetdm into /usr/src and built a custom deb package.. THAT did not work - ended up with a package missing at least : /usr/lib/freeswitch/mod/mod_freetdm.so - even missing the directory I think something somewhere is supposed to renames things? I'm in way over my head.. In real life I write assembly for embedded chips - nothing like this. ( Really wish I could be of some help - I think it is quite important that freeswitch gets into Debian to feed the distribution food chain.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Karl Schmidt EMail Karl@xtronics.com Transtronics, Inc. If you need to get this working try these patches: http://jira.freeswitch.org/browse/FS-4247 They're not acceptable for inclusion, but they might get the job done for you.

FS is a hard package to get in a distribution for various reasons. I'm working with some others to do that, but even when it goes in, it's likely going to be missing lots of modules.

There are two patches - I think I should apply both of them? and if I'm using this build script - http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Debian_packages_buildscript I would stop after the git fetch and put both of those into freeswitch/patches and the script will apply them?

On a related note, does the packaging include dkms support (or similar) for the wanpipe drivers? Or are there plans to? One of my bug bears is having to rebuild the drivers after every time there is a new kernel patch released. Thanks, John

No plans, but I'll consider any serious patch.

If I get around to it, you get the patch!
