Also given that it accepts 5V DC @ 500mA a POE adapter'd be much simpler than needing a DC->AC conversion. On 20 November 2013 22:03, Steven Ayre <steveayre@gmail.com> wrote:
Although given they claim 1 year of battery life perhaps it's not needed. :)

That assumes a doorbell wiring though. Inside say an office building that might not be there but POE might be so I can see the advantage.
I wonder if there are any POE -> 10-20V AC converters?
Wouldn't cover the network part though. A POE AP to talk to the doorbot might be overkill. ;)

I’m not so worried about PoE, Its wifi and powered over the existing doorbell AC power supply and can still ring your existing doorbell in addition to calling you. If you used the link I gave you’ll get 10 dollars off and I’ll get 10 dollars back! :) I would love to see if they are using SIP on the back side… I’ll be packet tracing it when Its installed…

It would be super awesome if it was networkable and POE powered.

I wonder if we could convince them to open this thing up for SIP? Its cheaper than the N2 video door intercoms…
