Are you sure it isn't started yet?: try to open* freeswitch/bin/fs_cli* instead of *freeswitch/bin/freeswitch* 2010/3/25 Ken Fulmer <kenfulmer@icstechnologysolutions.com>
There's a file called freeswitch.pid in the path: opt/freeswitch/run/ freeswitch.pid
I changed the permissions for the file to read / write / execute. However, I still received the same error. I rebooted the Ubuntu server and the permissions reverted back to the previous setting.
Thanks,
Ken

We see the above error when attempting to start FreeSwitch on Ubuntu 9.10 server. Has anyone seen this before?
It looks like a permission problem. Can freeswitch access the path to
/what/ever/freeswitch/log/freeswitch.pid
