We were already running in to issues where some core features for webrtc were not working silently causing some problems supporting things, and we are soon adding additional functionality that will make us more dependent on a fairly modern openssl. Was this a "made a change to a module somewhere that won't work without openssl 1.0.1e" or "build now mandates 1.0.1e and will complain/fail without it".
If the former, what's the scope of won't work?
If the latter, that knocks out compatibility with quite a few older distros, including anyone running RHEL/CentOS 5/Fedora 17/OpenSUSE 11/...

Please note, I just pushed a change that now requires openssl version 1.0.1e or later to build. I also added for osx to automatically look in the homebrew location for installing that library, as you will likely need to install homebrew openssl to build now. Please let me know if you see any issues.
