I am in the same boat, new to FreeSwitch, setup first on an old Linux box (going pretty well), with plans to go Mac Mini. I tried to install on OSX and first got the MOD_SPANDSP missing issue. Since I could not find a way to install that on OSX I took it out of the modules.conf to see how far I would get, thinking it's only for fax? But then I got the same error for flite you have below.
