Hi. I doubt you really have to worry about the format, especially in USA. It's generally standard SIP. By manual setup I meant that it requires a phone call, perhaps paperwork, and account approval (e.g. That you have enough traffic.) I think all USA carriers support porting your number. If they charge over 10 that's probably not wholesale pricing ... I don't really have the time or inclination to write a full guide on origination companies, sorry... What country and channel usage do you need? Supplies of 2 channel numbers is different than more/unlimited channels. Also, I can provide DIDs... Want to be in touch with me off-list and explain what you're looking for? -Avi On Wed, Jun 26, 2013 at 2:10 AM, Karl Schmidt <karl@xtronics.com> wrote:
I'm looking for my first DID carrier - found lots of them, but no wiki page on what to look for.
One of the details I've realized that not every provider can let me transfer a local number.
An other details may have to do with what information is provided when a call comes in and in what format?
As I'm just getting started I figure there are other details I should be looking for, but don't know about.
Instead of recommending particular providers ( likely to cause political problems - but I'm glad for the information from Avi above --but I don't know what he means by "they require manual setup").
