Then "unrestricted digital" is still a voice channel? I'm completely clueless as to how this works on the ISDN side of 
things, I'm just assuming that any codec would work, because else the "unrestricted-digital-codec" option wouldn't make 
sense. :)

I assumed it was a data connection, because some of the hardware boxes offer 2-channel bonding on BRIs (an option, we're 
also exploring with FreeTDM) and the only way to do this I know of is through a data connection.
