[Freeswitch-users] setting up freeswitch on virtualbox configuring Localconnections

My problem is that I am in a network that doesn't allow UDP in the  network.  I suppose I could bring a router to work... but that's really not ideal. Plus if you're on a plane you really can't test it out end to end.  (using a bridged adaptor would simply just timeOut)

thanks again,

The advice Collins gives out applies to every single virtualization solution out there.

The real benefit of having a bridged adapter over a host-only adapter is you can test FreeSWITCH with a real hard phone or with another FS box. Although there are ways to make Windows/Linux route packets to/from the host adapter, most people won’t want to do the extra work :P

You will need to assign a network interface that is not NAT to communicate with the VM. Treat it as if it were actually another computer. A bridged or host-only adapter would work well.

So either:
1: 1x Bridged (replacing the default NAT adapter) - VM will appear as if it were a real machine on your LAN
2: 1x NAT (for Internet access) and 1x Host-only (for access from your host but won't work from elsewhere)

I usually prefer bridged adapters to host-only since other computers can then access it.
+1
I've run FS in VirtualBox many times. I have good success when using bridged adapter.
