[Freeswitch-users] skype reverse engineered

There's nothing open about about Skype. The protocol is entirely closed and
proprietary.

They offer an API to talk to the Skype client from another program running
on the same machine, but that's about it. mod_skypopen works by running one
or more copies of the official Skype client, creating a virtual sound card
and communicating with that from FreeSWITCH.
