Anthony, I think switchpi.org is not the best source for information because it only gives some source code and info for addons to make freeswitch interface with oldschool phones. It is an interesting project but it doesn't give any information about installing FreeSwitch on a Raspberry, or how to build it, etc Besides that it would be better if people would bundle their experiences on the wiki because on this mailing list information can't be found easily. Compiling is one thing, but packaging is another thing :) it is nice to use packages because it keeps the system clean when you want to make changes, when you want to install updates. Besides - packages can be shared in repositories so that the effort of compiling new versions is not duplicated. 2013/12/4 Brian West <brian@freeswitch.org>

the things to build the packages are already in the FS source tree... they may need some slight modification to deal with the different ARCH but they are already there... Actually I started one of those wiki pages but I don't have enough knowledge to contribute more, about e.g. which packages need to be modified to get it building, or for example to document other specific things. For example when I tried building it myself from git (v1.2) there was a package that only could be built on i386 because that compile flag was hardcoded. But this is frustrating as compiling it again on a raspberry takes a lot of time. I have to say that in the IRC channel BManojlovic started looking into creating a patch, but this is just an example. That's why I asked others to share update it and to share their experiences :) 2013/12/4 Anthony Minessale <anthony.minessale@gmail.com>

First the RaspberryPi has very limited CPU power as is. The most I have gotten out of it SIP to SIP is just a few calls... adding something like a SangomaUSBfxo is another matter itself... This will require most likely that they have released full sources for the USBfxo drivers and you build/install the drivers as normal. Then theres the question of if there is enough CPU Power to handle everything. I would guess there is enough for 1 or 2 calls but probably not much more then that. (This is just a gut guess from running just FS and mod_portaudio for using USB sound devices) The best advise I can offer here is quit treating the RPi like its something special, its really not when it comes to installing software on a linux platform. What makes is special is its very small and very inexpensive. On Wed, Dec 4, 2013 at 9:52 AM, Fernando Villarroel <fvillarroel@yahoo.com>wrote:

Theres a lack of information there for installing FreeSWITCH on Raspbian because Raspbian is just Debian Linux repackaged and recompiled specifically for the RaspberryPi Platform... it is no different... follow the standard debian instructions and it just works... there is nothing special there... Maybe you can help me out here understanding why this seems so difficult to communicate with the public at large. The RaspberryPi is just another computer, running an OS we are all already familiar with. The differences are in the CPU architecture which is taken care of by the OS and autotools when building.
