Hello All This is not a freeswitch question. I am sorry. But looking for a Dual WAN router suggestion? I try the pfSense and find a huge limitation, when WAN interface down. It keeps the firewall states and phones never able to connect through the second wan, unless someone clear the firewall rules manually. Any suggestions appreciated Thank you LLoyd
I think this is the wrong place to ask this question, but what you need is a router that supports OSPF or BGP as routing protocols. Set your main WAN link as a higher cost than the backup. Once one of the links fail the other will automatically pick it up. You can get some Sonicwall or Cisco equipment for under 1K or if you want opensource get a buffalo router which has ddwrt or tomato which they both support this. Been totally happy with Zyxel, looked for 2 years before settling on it. I have the USG100, fantastic, does OSPF. I was using it with load balancing since I had 2 6 meg lines, now have one 6 and one 57 so changed it to route all to 57 unless that WAN is down or overloaded. FreeSWITCH goes out on both WAN and using SIP ALG failover is perfect. Check the web site, they just introduced faster models USG110, etc. You can get 3 or more WANs too. Config is object oriented so takes getting used to but then is really easy since duplication is eliminated. Been rock solid for 3 years now and plan to buy a new one. Great config options and documentation is first rate. Go to the web site and download the manual(s). Again, I spent 2 years looking and recommend these to anyone. I'm very happy with our Peplink Balance 20<http://www.peplink.com/products/balance/>. It routes SIP, although our FreeSWITCH machine doesn't use it because I wanted a static address for that. They also have models with 3, 5, 7, or 13 WAN ports. -- Steve On Wed, Apr 23, 2014 at 4:21 PM, Lloyd Aloysius <lloyd.aloysius@gmail.com>wrote:

Just an FYI, I looked at Peplink but it had some things missing, for one you have to go to an expensive unit: 210/310 to get inbound load balancing. Also, I think there was a VPN issue for me. Zyxel gave me all I need and inbound balancing for $1000 less. Lot’s of people are happy with Peplink but so are Zyxel users. if Tuyan suggestion works, then pfsense is a better choice for a Dual WAN in opensource world. The reason I ask the question in list because it is related to SIP-NAT . Thank you for all the suggestions. Will update the results after test with pfsense and 'state killing on gateway failure' Thanks Lloyd On Thu, Apr 24, 2014 at 1:29 PM, Mario G <mario_fs@mgtech.com> wrote:

Hi, You should really check Mikrotik’s router boards (http://routerboard.com/.) I have used openwrt, dd-wrt or pfsense before but the rb750 is the best router I have encoutered so far and also, the price is really low for the numbers of features you get. Basically, under $40 you can have all you need like multi-wan, vpn, qos and with a nice fast command line or window-based interface. There is a learning step but it really worth it; for example, you can program a script to clear all conntrack rules preventing failover when the main wan link fails. Hope this helps. — Best Regards, Vallimamod . On 24 Apr 2014, at 01:21, Lloyd Aloysius <lloyd.aloysius@gmail.com> wrote:

Another option is the Ubiquiti EdgeMax routers. http://www.ubnt.com/edgemax#EdgeMAXhardware They run Debian/Vyatta for the OS. The web gui works pretty well for most tasks but you would probably want to configure any advanced stuff from the command line. You can also install pure Linux on them or even FreeBSD (so I've read). The hardware is pretty powerful given the cost. ------ Original Message ------ From: "Komar, Jason" <jkomar@jbox.ca> To: "FreeSWITCH Users Help" <freeswitch-users@lists.freeswitch.org> Sent: 4/24/2014 5:08:27 PM Subject: Re: [Freeswitch-users] Dual WAN router suggestions

Yes, edgerouter lite certainly can run FreeBSD: http://rtfm.net/FreeBSD/ERL/ I have ERL on my desk powered up with a newer freeBSD that's on the site, but no time to play with it yet.
