freeswitch startup issue
Hi ! Luckly freeswitch installed on my system after downloading other libraries. But when i run freeswitch I get this error ./freeswitch: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/local/freeswitch/lib/libfreeswitch.so.1: cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied Any idea how to solve this problem. Hi, You can call make nodepends to deactivate all the autobuilding features but it's much harder to build then. as for the mission .so add $prefix/lib to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH If you build to the default location /usr/local/freeswitch add /usr/local/freeswitch/lib to ld.so.conf and run ldconfig or set it from the command line $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/freeswitch/lib /usr/local/freeswitch/bin/freeswitch or set it as an environment variable from a prompt or in your shell rc file export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/freeswitch/lib Anthony Minessale II FreeSWITCH http://www.freeswitch.org/ ClueCon http://www.cluecon.com/ MSN:anthony_minessale@hotmail.com JABBER:anthony.minessale@gmail.com FreeSWITCH Developer Conference sip:888@66.250.68.194 pstn:712-432-7800 ----- Original Message ---- From: Abdul Qadir <ablqadir@yahoo.com> To: freeswitch-users@lists.freeswitch.org Sent: Thursday, July 13, 2006 12:08:52 AM Subject: [Freeswitch-users] freeswitch startup issue Hi ! You only need to install platform sdk if using the MSVC 2005 express edition as it does not come with the platform sdk. The Profesional version does. I just installed the Windows 2003 version of the platform SDK (yes even on windows XP). When you download the express edition, there are a set of instructions that explain what exactly you need to install and what settings you need to change. 1. I didnt really see those instructions and was getting errors like could not find windows.h -> anyway those got resolved by looking at this post (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=7004 <http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=7004&SiteID=1> &SiteID=1) and copying over files as suggested. 2. It would appear you are using the express edition of the compiler.. please make sure you have completely installed the platform sdk from the instructions on the express eddition download site: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/visualc/usingpsdk/ , and followed all the other steps necessary for express eddition to use it, the instructions are a bit confusing, but when you follow them closely, they should work every time After you get through that, do a fresh checkout of freeswitch (not quite sure what happened to yours). Make sure you have an internet connection on your first build, it downloads some required files and creates switch_version.h after doing some version lookups that require access to the subversion repository. open up w32/vsnet/freeswitch.sln Select the main solution node at the top of the solution explorer Right Click -> select build. If you continue to have issues after that, can you paste the ENTIRE initial build log in so I can take a look and/or catch me on IRC and let me into the box to take a look. Also, I just commited the updates to the installer this morning that includes all the more recent modules, I hope to do a daily snapshot msi for download soon. You just select build for the entrie solution... if there are other modules you want to build, such as perl or cepstral that require external software to be installed, you need to select and build them individually. We went through a lot of these issues in developing the W32 native build of Bayonne. Visual Studio does not offer a very usable model (or existing default standard locations) for installing third party libraries, in my opinion. I had looked at how some projects (like the native gtk port for example) handle this, and how other things do, and I hated them all, though the methods we choose are most similar to what gtk eventually did. We use Program Files\Common Files\GNU Telephony for shared dll's and Program Files\GNU Telephony for development files, rather than having everything in one root directory like the native \gtk port did. We also do some things with dll file naming to try and create abi based versioning. We use inno setup to build our installers, and I would be happy to see if we can build one for freeswitch if nobody else does one when it is far enough along where building such installers would be useful. ivancoder wrote:

Hi,
You can call make nodepends to deactivate all the autobuilding features but it's much harder
to build then.
as for the mission .so
add $prefix/lib to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH
If you build to the default location /usr/local/freeswitch
add /usr/local/freeswitch/lib to ld.so.conf and run ldconfig
or set it from the command line
$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/freeswitch/lib /usr/local/freeswitch/bin/freeswitch
or set it as an environment variable from a prompt or in your shell rc file
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/freeswitch/lib
