Shared Line exprience with Polycom - how to get it to work
Hello, we followed the advices in http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Shared_Line_Appearance and set <param name="manage-shared-appearance" value="true"/> in the internal profile. Also presence handling is enabled. In the Polycom phone settings we set reg.1.type="shared" reg.1.bargeInEnabled="1" reg.1.callsPerLineKey="1" according to the wiki and the Polycom documentation In phone1.cfg we set divert.1.sharedDisabled="0" and in sip.cfg we set call.shared.disableDivert="1" reg.1.bargeInEnabled="1" When we call the destination number, - both phones ring - we pick up one phone - other phone stops ringing - we press "hold" on the active phone - nothings happens to the other phone Are we doing something wrong here? We work with Polycom FW 3.2.3 and Freeswitch GIT compiled last friday. Strange is, that Freeswitch shows a number of error messages related to SQL (we use ODBC), although all SQL statements are valid and can be sucessfully executed on the MySQL CLI. Also we do see records in sip_dialogs but not a single record in sip_presence. Any hints? What did you do to get this working? Thanks for the hint, I set this to the "internal" profile, however this did not work. When Phone 1 is set to "on hold" I receive a number of SLA2 error messages which belong to a database connection. We have set up an odbc database connction which works for the internal database in all other cases. Do we need special DB settings for this? I tried to execute the below embedded sql statements manually with the same sql login and they all work without an error. In the Polycom phone settings we set reg.1.type="shared" reg.1.bargeInEnabled="1" reg.1.callsPerLineKey="1" according to the wiki and the Polycom documentation
In phone1.cfg we set divert.1.sharedDisabled="0"
and in sip.cfg we set call.shared.disableDivert="1" reg.1.bargeInEnabled="1"
When we call the destination number, - both phones ring - we pick up one phone - other phone stops ringing - we press "hold" on the active phone - nothings happens to the other phone
Are we doing something wrong here? We work with Polycom FW 3.2.3 and Freeswitch GIT compiled last friday.
Strange is, that Freeswitch shows a number of error messages related to SQL (we use ODBC), although all SQL statements are valid and can be sucessfully executed on the MySQL CLI. Also we do see records in sip_dialogs but not a single record in sip_presence.
Any hints? What did you do to get this working?

I set this to the "internal" profile, however this did not work. When Phone 1 is set to "on hold" I receive a number of SLA2 error messages which belong to a database connection. We have set up an odbc database connction which works for the internal database in all other cases. Do we need special DB settings for this? I tried to execute the below embedded sql statements manually with the same sql login and they all work without an error.
What can be the source of these errors?

Please make sure that: - You have *manage-presence* set to true on one profile and passive on the others. - *dbname* is the same for all profiles. - *manage-shared-appearnce* is true for all profiles. - most important: set *presence-hosts *in the profiles to *exactly *the same name you specified as registrar in Polycom's config files (reg.*x*.server*.* y*.*address). It can be either DNS name or IP address. (checked, is domain name) We still have the same behaviour. I also saw your Jira here: http://jira.freeswitch.org/browse/FS-623?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.syst... which describes the mix of domain names and ip adresses. Fortunately on all messaging events we do see the domain name in from and to header and also vars.xml contains the domain name as $${domain}. So we do not use any IP adresses, only domain names in all configs and profiles. Btw: is it normal that the sip_presence table is always empty? Any more ideas? We had this problem in the past and solved it with the help of Anthony and others.
Please make sure that:
- You have *manage-presence* set to true on one profile and passive on the others. - *dbname* is the same for all profiles. - *manage-shared-appearnce* is true for all profiles. - most important: set *presence-hosts *in the profiles to *exactly *the same name you specified as registrar in Polycom's config files (reg./x/.server/./y/./address). It can be either DNS name or IP address.

we did some further investigation during the last days. We got a step further, but we are not finished yet.
What DOES work
* BLF works generally on both phones * SLA works when SLA phones inititiate a call to another phone: We can switch between the phones with "hold".
What does NOT work
* when SLA phones receive a call, both can take the call but cannot share the line, even the BLF lamp is off
To answer your question:
We have set in the internal profile:
<param name="dbname" value="share_presence"/> But do be honest; I have no clue where to find "share_presence". We work with ODBC for the internal profile and I can see 2 tables
* sip_shared_appearance_dialogs * sip_shared_appearance_subscriptions
Both tables are not filled with any data during the SLA scenario.
I also grepped for "share_presence" in the files in /usr/local/freeswitch/db , but there is no "share_presence" entry in any of the files.
By SIP tracing the NOTIFY messages between phones an Freeswitch we have different behaviour in an outbound SLA und inbound SLA scenario. In the inbound secanrio we have no messages with "appearance-state=active" nor "appearance-state=alerting" to any phone. In the outbound scenario we do have.
Outbound Notify messges contain: ========================== Notify Message1 to originating phone Call-Info: <sip:mydomain.org>;appearance-index=*;appearance-state=idle. Event: line-seize.
Notify Message2 to originating phone Call-Info: <sip:mydomain.org>;appearance-index=1;appearance-state=alerting;appearance-uri="\"4700\" <sip:4700@mydomain.org>". Call-Info: <sip:mydomain.org>;appearance-index=*;appearance-state=idle. Event: call-info.
Notify Message3 to originating phone Event: presence. (State: "Ring")
Notify Message4 to originating phone after answering the call Event: presence. (State: Talk")
Notify Message5 to originating phone after answering the call Call-Info: <sip:mydomain.org>;appearance-index=1;appearance-state=active;appearance-uri="\"Test-4700\" ...
For the incoing call to the SLA phones: ==========================
Notify Message1 to called SLA phone 1 after answering the call (before there as no notify during call setup) Call-Info: <sip:mydomain.org>;appearance-index=*;appearance-state=idle. Event: call-info
Notify Message2 to called phone 1 Event: presence. (State: "talk" for calling phone)
Notify Message1 to other SLA phone 2 after answering the call by phone 1 (before there as no notify during call setup) Call-Info: <sip:mydomain.org>;appearance-index=*;appearance-state=idle. Event: call-info.
That's all messages until hangup.

I set this to the "internal" profile, however this did not work. When Phone 1 is set to "on hold" I receive a number of SLA2 error messages which belong to a database connection. We have set up an odbc database connction which works for the internal database in all other cases. Do we need special DB settings for this? I tried to execute the below embedded sql statements manually with the same sql login and they all work without an error.
What can be the source of these errors?
