mod_fifo WITHOUT answering the call during queue
Hey there! I was wondering if there is any possibilty to use "mod_fifo" but do NOT answer a call immediately. Instead there should be just a ringing to the originator while being in the queue but NO answer to the call until an agent pick up the call. Can anybody help? Best Michael
I don't think we have a way without changing the code. The reason for this is pretty much every provider has a fairly short limit on ring time. If you want to make it sound like ringing, you can use a tone stream of the appropriate ring tone as your music on hold. This will actually be answered already, but will sounds like the call is still ringing. Mike On Jul 15, 2014, at 11:33 AM, Michael Huber <michael.huber.2932@gmail.com> wrote:

Why would you want ot do that? The time a call can sit in that no answer state is very limited once you're in the queue still not answered your provider could end the call with a fast busy, Is it just the ringing you wish to simulate or what? Hi Brian, I have setups that actually use this feature in Asteirsk Queues. It's used for internal hotlines in enterprise PBX. The user controls the PBX so staying in RINGING for a minute or is no problem. Usually the calls are connected to an agent much much faster, if it is in ringing too long the call is escalated to another queue which actually answers the call and plays music. So for most callers it doesn't look&feel like they are connected to an ACD, which is perceived as annoying by users. And it doesn't help to just simulate ringing, it doesn't look/feel the same on sip phones. So yeah, there are use cases for that, although I don't need it in Freeswitch right now. I'd probably write something that uses event socket to control/distribute calls if I need more/stranger things than mod_fifo or mod_callcenter can do. It wouldn't be massively complex to create a patch to allow this in mod_fifo, but it doesn't exist today. On Jul 17, 2014, at 5:16 AM, Markus Lindenberg <markus.lindenberg@gmail.com> wrote:

The answer why I want to do this is much simpler than you might think. Here in Germany there are laws: one is not allowed to have callcenter-queues and the caller has to pay for that. But if you answer the call in freeswitch for inserting the caller into a queue, the caller has to pay for this right in this moment. I know that I am not able to play some music with this solution but the ringing would be enough for me and the callers. Simulating the ringback is just a dirty hack and is not a solution for the paypment problem. So, at the moment no chance to realise this out of the box with mod_fifo?
