Due to our recent infrastructure changes I can now see the complete picture of who is being abusive to our files mirror. I'll continue to monitor and block abusive IP addresses, If you wish to mirror files.freeswitch.org please do so via emailing krice@freeswitch.org and we can arrange something a little less abusive to our resources. Is there an open list of public mirrors? It would be great to have one. Also it would be great to structurize the server a bit, and move old debs somewhere to a separate folder. On Oct 23, 2014 2:50 PM, "Brian West" <brian@freeswitch.org> wrote:

There was no reason at all to mirror the files, it was hosted on a geo diverse CDN network, We are moving away from that to a more controlled system that we maintain to ease the deployment of the deb and yum repo's as the previous CDN would mess that up from time to time leaving the repos in an inconsistent state. If anyone has systems they wish to donate to mirrors then email krice@freeswitch.org, we'll be deploying them using geo dns on Route 53 as systems are added so we can make sure you'll always be routed to the nearest mirror... (In addition to listing them by hostname if you choose to not be routed to the closest mirror) Thanks, On Thu, Oct 23, 2014 at 3:30 PM, Stanislav Sinyagin <ssinyagin@gmail.com> wrote:

the reason for mirroring popped up when your servers were unreachable for a day or two. But there are two factors which make it inconvenient and cost you extra traffic: 1) your server does not send the file modification date. So, if I do wget --mirror, it cannot download incrementally, and would download the whole thing again. 2) What many people need is a downloadable Debian repo with latest stable release. But the repo on your side has all previous releases, so the download size is too big. Both factors are quite easy to fix, and then it won't be a problem any more if someone fires a recursive wget on your servers. We were unreachable for a bit due to our datacenter move and rework of how we are going to handle files.freeswitch.org, If everyone was in such a bind because of that, please use the Paypal button on the website so we can beef up our infrastructure even more. As of now we are paying 100% of the cost of hardware, colo and bandwidth. To answer your questions: 1. It should now return the proper modification dates due to no longer using the CDN. 2. there is no need to download the repo, just add it to your sources.lst, apt-get install or apt-get update. #2 -- yes, there still is. For example, if you're planning a big deployment in a protected environment, and the servers do not have a direct Internet connection. Also some parts of the world are quite far from your servers, and the round-trip delay affects the speed of installation process. Of course one could build their own debs, but why reinventing the wheel. On Fri, Oct 24, 2014 at 3:22 PM, Brian West <brian@freeswitch.org> wrote:

apt-proxy with caching On Friday, October 24, 2014, Stanislav Sinyagin <ssinyagin@gmail.com> wrote:

Of course one could build their own debs, but why reinventing the wheel.

To answer your questions:
1. It should now return the proper modification dates due to no longer using the CDN. 2. there is no need to download the repo, just add it to your sources.lst, apt-get install or apt-get update.
Thanks,

the reason for mirroring popped up when your servers were unreachable for a day or two. But there are two factors which make it inconvenient and cost you extra traffic:
1) your server does not send the file modification date.

There was no reason at all to mirror the files, it was hosted on a geo diverse CDN network, We are moving away from that to a more controlled system that we maintain to ease the deployment of the deb and yum repo's as the previous CDN would mess that up from time to time leaving the repos in an inconsistent state. If anyone has systems they wish to donate to mirrors then email krice@freeswitch.org <javascript:_e(%7B%7D,'cvml','krice@freeswitch.org');>, we'll be deploying them using geo dns on Route 53 as systems are added so we can make sure you'll always be routed to the nearest mirror... (In addition to listing them by hostname if you choose to not be routed to the closest mirror)

Its roughly 33GB of data right now. The transfer amount would depend greatly on how many mirrors we have.

I do have the space in Atlanta but cannot offer more than 15TB transfer monthly for now. If you're interested let me know and we can setup an rsync or something. Best. Em 24/10/2014 22:15, "Michael Jerris" <mike@jerris.com> escreveu:
