Compiling freeswitch on Ubuntu 10.04
Hi there, I am trying to compile Freeswitch on Ubuntu 10.04 but am getting stranded as follows: g++: /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.1/../../../../lib/crti.o: No such file or directory g++: /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.1/crtbeginS.o: No such file or directory g++: /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.1/crtendS.o: No such file or directory g++: /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.1/../../../../lib/crtn.o: No such file or directory make[2]: *** [libfreeswitch.la] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/freeswitch.trunk' make[1]: *** [all] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/freeswitch.trunk' make: *** [freeswitch] Error 2 I think this is related to the gcc version; ubuntu 10.04 comes with version 4.4.3 rather than 4.4.1. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Kees, you're trying to use a non released (alpha, whatever) Ubuntu version to build what is intended to be a solid server for telephony. This is contradictory. If you want to, and you succeed, let us know (maybe describing how in a wiki page). If you don't succeed, please wait not until 10.04 will be released by Ubuntu (Lucid Lynx, at end of April), but until a couple weeks after the 10.04.1 will be released. At that point Lucid Lynx will be a solid platform for running a server, and an LTS platform, supported for 5 years, and the community will put efforts in supporting it. -giovanni

It is beta 3, however it is pretty solid and will be released next month. Besides, I don't want to run a production server on it, I want to try out fscomm. Anyway, back to the point: can anybody provide any hints as to how to fix this? Thanks, Kees On Mon, Mar 22, 2010 at 21:25, Giovanni Maruzzelli <gmaruzz@celliax.org>wrote:

Its not so solid if you have a cutting edge compiler... You also failed to provide the logs before the error... Chances are since you decided what to provide to the list and cut out the stuff we really needed to see. Please include the 100-200 lines previous this error. Also did you bootstrap this on a different machine and compile the tree then move it? /b On Mar 22, 2010, at 3:38 AM, Kees Varekamp wrote:

OK that solved it! I did bootstrap it on another machine. Recompiled everything according to http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Quick_and_Dirty_Install and now it's running fine on ubuntu 10.04. Many thanks for the suggestion, Kees On Tue, Mar 23, 2010 at 02:21, Brian West <brian@freeswitch.org> wrote:
