Hi, I have an issue that is the result of Cisco shortsightedness. The Cisco SPA5xx phones support auto-answer. However, if the user is on the phone, the caller is slammed on hold and the auto-answer picks up. The person on hold is left wondering why they got thrown away with no warning. At a minimum, Cisco should allow you to select which behavior you want. Anyway, how can I detect (in an XML dialplan) if the extension is currently on a call? For those that don't know me, I have limited scripting skills. Can a script be used to detect this and return a value to a dialplan condition? Thanks, Sean
I generally just turn off call-waiting on the phone. It'll always reject a call if the user is on the phone which is generally what you want. On 29 May 2014 16:20, Sean Devoy <sdevoy@bizfocused.com> wrote:

Hi, What version of firmware do you have on the Cisco phones? We ran into what sounds like the same issue, but they added a parameter in 7.4.8 (Auto_Ans_Page_On_Active_Call_<line>_) that fixed this for us. Thanks Gabe. I will do some tests. It is unclear if that applies to AutoAnswered Calls or just GROUP PAGEs. GroupPages are implemented entirely on the local lan by the phone with NO switch involvement at all. I hope it is both.
