FreeSWITCH with rabbit mq
Hi has anyone used FreeSWITCH with your cdrs going to rabbitmq? Will the rabbit mq interfere with FreeSWITCH? Like take up TCP ports? Or impact performance? Thanks Andre
Hi there, As far as I know, the Kazoo platform is using Rabbit MQ with FreeSWITCH for message dispatching, but I’ve no idea whether it’s for CDRs or something else. Maybe you can take a look at if that helps... Kind regards, -- *Iskren Hadzhinedev* Hi has anyone used FreeSWITCH with your cdrs going to rabbitmq? Will the rabbit mq interfere with FreeSWITCH? the most flexible way would be to have a separate program which connects to the FreeSWITCH via ESL and subscribes to the call ending events, like here: https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/CDR_via_ESL Then this program can send CDR to your MQ or wherever you like. I would suggest doing it in Golang, as it handles concurrency natively, so you can have multiple threads talking to FreeSWITCH servers and pushing the messages into MQ. Thanks. I really want to know if rabbit and FreeSWITCH on the same box will hurt performance due 2 competing tcp ports or other resources. FrreeSWITCH daemon is usually launched with higher priority than other processes, so there shouldn't be any problem if MQ requires some additional CPU power. Also the MQ is just a transport queue, it should not really use much of resources. On Sat, Sep 20, 2014 at 12:06 AM, Andre Demattia <andretodd@verizon.net> wrote:

Hi, It shouldn't affect performance at all. CDR events are usually 2-3 per call max. Kazoo record CDRs based on CHANNEL_DESTROY and it travels FreeSwitch->mod_kazoo(mod_erlang)->epmd->ecallmgr->RabbitMQ/AMQP (fanout at that iirc) -> multiple consumers (CDR app is one of them). Rabbit is by far the most robust link in this scenario in my experience. On Sat, Sep 20, 2014 at 12:06 AM, Andre Demattia <andretodd@verizon.net> wrote:

Based on channel_destroy? cdrs should be done in the reporting state before destroy. On Sep 20, 2014, at 1:50 AM, Vladimir Ralev <vladimir.ralev@gmail.com> wrote:

Is there an ESL event for reporting state? In any case CHANNEL_DESTROY seems good enough in kazoo and it's better to filter out redundant events. On Sat, Sep 20, 2014 at 10:45 PM, Michael Jerris <mike@jerris.com> wrote:

It'd be better to have a module within FreeSWITCH that hooks into that state. If you collect CDRs via ESL you risk missing some calls if your ESL connection drops. On 21 September 2014 03:00, Vladimir Ralev <vladimir.ralev@gmail.com> wrote:

I see. Looks like HANGUP_COMPLETE provides more context. I didn't mean ESL per se, was trying to refer to the more general event distributor concept in FS. I think mod_kazoo acts like an erlang C node firing events in a reliable fashion. Not sure what's going on in there precisely.
