This was something I thought could be done when I first got into VoIP, but I have learned that it doesn't work like that. What seems to happen is that as soon as your call reaches the PSTN, the caller-name field is dropped, because most of the network can't handle it. So instead, the receiving office uses CNAM to turn the caller-id number into a name, which is displayed. The only control you have is that you can usually have your DID provider update the CNAM databases for you. This takes a few days, so you can't change your name dynamically. -- Steve On Mon, Jul 28, 2014 at 4:44 PM, Malay Thakershi <mthakershi@gmail.com> wrote:
Hello,
I use originate to make outbound calls.
originate {origination_caller_id_name='CH calling',origination_caller_ id_number=1XXXXXXXXXX,origination_uuid=XXXXXXXX, absolute_codec_string=PCMU,ignore_early_media=true, originate_timeout=45,}sofia/gateway/chsbc01/1XXXXXXXXXX 1056 XML default
Can I display "CH calling" as caller name when people receive our calls? It is not displaying that. It only display the number. Thanks.
