thanks for the replies, you are spot on Iskren. I had ended up with the HEAD as 1.4.4 and v1.4.stable do not exist. Using just v1.4 works perfectly. I was about to add some of this to the wiki but cannot remember my password and the forgotten details link is not working due to the database being locked. :)
