In reality, I don’t think there's any config breaking changes from 1.6 to master at this point, and master is already being staged for early 1.8 releases. We'll prob see beta releases of 1.8 very soon. If you want to help us on this effort, please checkout the master branch (packages are already available see confluence) and test away.
