Yep, I confirm, 2.6.35 line seems to have timing PBs (and others), 2.6.33.4 is more stable (ubuntu often thinks newer is better...)
Which release of Ubuntu are you running? I have FS running on a very old machine(slower than yours) and I have seen an issue like this before. It was related to the release and the kernel.
