Hi Cal, yes I updated today in fact here is the version number (Version 1.2.12 git 8b3bc7d 2013-09-16 03:24:04Z) I have temporarily solved the problem by setting up a local DNS with a fake zone so I'm happy that works. I'll re-open the JIRA Cheers James On Mon, Sep 16, 2013 at 9:46 PM, Cal Leeming [Simplicity Media Ltd] < cal.leeming@simplicitymedialtd.co.uk> wrote:
Hi James,
This should have worked - can you confirm if you are on the latest stable for 1.2?
If so, can you please re-open the JIRA ticket mentioned above with as much info as possible?
Thanks
Cal

Cal, thanks for your reply.
I've added {sip_gethostbyname=true} to the dialplan i.e.:
<action application="bridge" data="{sip_gethostbyname=true}sofia/gateway/gw/+$1"/> but am still getting the same error. If in my gateway definition I use the IP in lieu of the FQDN it works.
This should work ok in the bridge application correct?
If all else fails I can look at setting up a local DNS server.
Thanks
James

You are lucky, I raised this as a bug a few months ago :)

Use the following on the dialstring to force /etc/hosts to be used; {sip_gethostbyname=true}
Hope this helps

Hi FS user group,
can anyone suggest any help with this problem. A provider with whom I am integrating with requires that we use their domain name in INVITEs on numbers they host on their end. Normally this is not a problem - I would just set that up in the gateway config with proxy="FQDN" etc however the domain name they are using does not resolve to an IP address
I have added an entry in /etc/hosts for the FQDN and can ping it from my command line however FS outbound calls via the gateway are failing with
nua_stack.c:271 nua_stack_event() nua(0x7fcc040023f0): event r_invite 503 DNS Error
is there any way I can get around this without creating a fake DNS zone as I have seen some people suggest? I ask as I don't have a local DNS server.
I am using the stable 1.2 build (Version 1.2.12) on Ubunutu 12.04
Thanks in advance.
James
