The only mention of a HNC encryption I can find is this in an entry on google books (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=hnc+encryption) "HNC: A series of proprietary and undocumented encryption algorithms developed by the HNC Network (www.hack-net.com), HNC is designed to create access codes for software package distributions". Assuming it's the same HNC... 1) It's proprietary/undocumented. Completely non-standard and unlikely to ever be supported by other software. 2) It sounds like its not even designed for this type if usage, which concerns me 3) I always regard any nonstandard encryption with sceptism. Usually they're not as secure as the designers believe. Anyway long and short of it is its not standard and probably vendor specific (I found a mention huawei might use it?) I don't think you'll get it to work with fs or almost anything else, and if encrypted DTMF is needed then the standard SRTP would be a far better way to achieve it. Hi Brian,
They refers to a spec. so called HNC1 ! Would you search this key in http://www.scribd.com/doc/100596037/01-07-Configuring-Trunk-Data

Your operator is likely talking about the DTMF 'method' (inband, SIP INFO, rfc2833), not encryption. In which case yoi are probably set up to do that already. Post a console log of a sample call on pastebin.freeswitch.orgif yiu want is to confirm, and reply to this thread with a link.

Hi Mike,
Actually I'm not. This is a request from my local operator. As you said I told them that is possible to encrypt entire rtp stream by SRTP / ZRTP techniques. She says me that (on Huawei Switch) the encryption option just there when she selects rfc2833 for digit handling and not on entire media stream !!! Thank you so much,
Afshin

We support SRTP, which encrypts the entire media stream including the 2833 digits. I'm not familiar with a standard that just encrypts the dtmf. Did they provide any details of what this standard is?

Hi Guys,
I don't know if FreeSWITCH is capable of to exchange encrypted rfc2833 dtmf digits. My voip provider uses a Huawei switch and does ask me to enable dtmf encryption but I could not find such parameter in sofia.xml.conf file.
