Fedora 12/13 also does the trick for FreeSwitch, but don't expect mod_perl and mod_dingaling to work properly on those two. On Tue, Nov 2, 2010 at 12:49 PM, Steven Ayre <steveayre@gmail.com> wrote:
I use debian lenny on my production servers (I also prefer the debian software distribution). It also makes the systems more consistent as all our other servers also run debian.
I haven't had any stability problems at all with it, using the standard kernel.
CentOS is the recommended OS for FreeSWITCH though, since that's the one core development is done on and most people use, so is the most tested configuration.

Hi,
the time will come, when we will use FreeSWITCH on our systems. Currently we are using CentOS, but I am normally using debian systems because of the better software distribution, stability and update process.
So? Are there any advantages if I would use CentOS or Debian? Does somebody has trouble on CentOS / Debian related to limitiation like Kernel configuration problems (I dont want to recompile the kernel for every system). Are there any analyses on which system FreeSWITCH does run "better" (stability, number of calls, performance,....)
Any hint is appreciated.
Best regards, Bernhard
