just in case if someone finds it useful, I put together the requirements for an SBC that I was going to implement with FreeSWITCH, but the project got delayed: https://txlab.wordpress.com/2012/10/24/xlab1-project-sbc-requirements/

It depends on what you need and what "SBC" means to you...
FreeSWITCH can do many SBC type functions.
FreeSWITCH + Kamailio can do more and at higher scale.
Acme is generally regarded as the "Cadillac" in the SBC space from a functionality standpoint. It can do virtually anything an SBC needs to do almost regardless of what your definition of SBC is. This comes at a cost from a performance and price standpoint (compared to Sonus, for example).
What issues are you having with FreeSWITCH that raised this question?

Hi friends, I use a few boxes with FS and now my company (TELCO) will acquire an SBC: What SBC think is best ACME or SONUS?
