I'm looking for my first DID carrier - found lots of them, but no wiki page on what to look for.

One of the details I've realized that not every provider can let me transfer a local number.

An other details may have to do with what information is provided when a call comes in and in what 
format?

As I'm just getting started I figure there are other details I should be looking for, but don't know 
about.

Instead of recommending particular providers ( likely to cause political problems - but I'm glad for 
the information from Avi above --but I don't know what he means by "they require manual setup").
