I run the following API command to send a TIFF file with txfax: originate {sip_h_P-CustomHeader=value,ignore_early_media=true,fax_ident='Fax Test',origination_caller_id_name='Fax Test',origination_caller_id_number=2165551111,absolute_codec_string=PCMU at 20i ,fax_verbose=true,fax_enable_t38=yes,fax_enable_t38_request=yes,fax_use_ecm=no,fax_end_page=1,jitterbuffer_msec=200:200:200}sofia/external/ 4045551111 at 1.2.3.4:5060 &txfax(/usr/local/etc/faxtiffs/smiley-fine.tif) The INVITE goes out as expected, and the call connects normally. One second later, the far side sends a re-invite for T.38. Local FreeSWITCH shows the remote SDP on the console, sends a 100 Trying, and this appears on the console: [DEBUG] switch_core_media.c:5192 sofia/external/4045551111 at 1.2.3.4:5060 T38 ACCEPT on request [DEBUG] switch_core_media.c:5296 sofia/external/4045551111 at 1.2.3.4:5060 T38 IS POSSIBLE on request And then nothing. No 200 OK, 488 Not Acceptable Here, nothing past the 100 Trying. I can't tell why. spandsp.conf.xml is vanilla with only ident, header and spool-dir updated. The environment is relatively simple with all static public IPs, no NAT, etc. This particular FS instance serves only as an endpoint for testing like this fax example. This configuration has been working in general for years and specifically on this box for almost a year. Apparently something has changed somewhere but I can't see what. I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in a direction to diagnose and solve this. Regards, Jeff -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... If you search through the resulting file you should see lots of calls to "open". Typically, on startup a process looks in several places for each library it needs but will eventually find one. When it fails there's a message and a return value of -1. When it succeeds you'll see the file descriptor i.e. a number that isn't -1. You'll spot the pattern soon enough. So, something like "strace -o trc /usr/local/freeswitch/bin/freeswitch" followed by "vi trc" or equivalent. "trc" is the name of the output file that strace is asked to write to in this example. If you don't have strace available ldd does something similar. That should help widen/narrow down the problem by revealing where binary is really looking. One theory is that it's looking everywhere except in the right place. Another is that it's looking where you think but there's something wrong with what it finds there. The Deutsche Telekom technical documentation states that the client must set the following SIP header fields: For an initial REGISTER without Authentication Challenge the SIP Header fields - Security-Client: sdes-srtp;mediasec - Proxy Request: mediasec - Requirement: mediasec shall be included. The platform replies with SIP 401 Unauthorised and contains the SIP header fields - Security server: msrp-tls;mediasec - Security server: sdes-srtp;mediasec - Security server: dtls-srtp;mediasec with indication of the possible encryption methods. For the following REGISTER with Authentication Challenge, in addition to the originally included SIP header fields Security-Client, Proxy-Require, Require the SIP header fields - Security Check: msrp-tls;mediasec - Security check: sdes-srtp;mediasec - Security check: dtls-srtp;mediasec shall also be included. According to RFC3261, the Security-Verify header fields can also be combined as a single header field. I have seen, that the Sofia-Stack has implemented these Fields. But I have not found a way to set these header fields in the REGISTER message. (For the INVITE messages I'm using the set action sip_h_*; not sure if this is correct. I have just installed my first FreeSwitch server on a virtual machine on my local network, and I'm playing with it and a couple of SIP phones on the same network, in order to learn about it. I've got the phones to register to the server (I've changed the default password in vars.xml), and my first test is simply to place a call between one phone and the other. I've discovered the "NAT feature" of FreeSwitch, where it finds out what the *external* IP address of my Internet router is (which has nothing to do with the FreeSwitch server or the phones I'm trying to work with here), and starts presenting that address to the telephones in the Invite messages (inlcuding the SDP negotiations). I've found https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Auto+Nat and https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/NAT+Traversal which tell me that I need to use the "-nonat" command-line option to freeswitch to disable this. BTW, I fell in love with FreeSWITCH when I installed it and configured a couple phones that were up and calling each other in my lab in about 10 minutes, so you shouldn't be too far off. They've really tried to make it easy to get a working system going quickly, then you can break things from there :-) Here are my ancient notes which might also be helpful: https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Debian+Post-Install+Tasks Hope this helps. Hi. However, this doesn't work for me: # ps ax | grep freeswitch 3678 ? I'll save the file and position (to be exact the sample position) and then when the caller comes back, they can choose to restart in the same place. The playback tool allows me to specify the sample position (and uuid_fileman lets me seek to one) But I don't see how to query the _current_ position. There's no status inside uuid_fileman There's no variables I see that are updating when doing uuid_dump. The closest I see is that if I stop the playback, I get a PLAYBACK_STOP event with the sample position. This seems like it could work, but that's means I need to trigger a script to stop the playback (can't continue listening) and wait for an ESL event, and hope we're getting the right one. (How to I listen for events attached only to a specific UUID?) This seems overly complicated. I was hoping to have a uuid_fileman option or the like to query the current position. The other thing which I have found, which makes me think I'm missing something really simple, is that if the machine running FreeSwitch does not have a route to the Internet, I can't even register telephones on its local network. 192.168.32.59 - Freeswitch server 192.168.32.77 - Yealink T41 192.168.32.78 - Yealink VP530 Phones simply get no response whatever to the Register requests (measured with sngrep running on the FreeSwitch server). If I put a route to the Internet back in again, and then restart FreeSwitch, the phones can then register (and start using my public IP address to try to talk to each other). PS: Apologies for the duplication of posts from Friday - I assumed they had disappeared in a spam filter or similar, given that they hadn't turned up on the list archives after 48 hours (so I knew they hadn't reached the list, not just that my copies hadn't come back to me). I gave this a try, I used "playback" in dialplan, then I used uuid_fileman from CLI with cmd "stop". And I get the chan vars: variable_playback_seconds: 12 variable_playback_ms: 12288 variable_playback_samples: 98304 Yes, they are meant to work on "stop" . You get the values when it's stopped and then you seek to position. You can seek with "playback": You can use inline dialplan too I think. If you believe it's a bug, file a github issue. Perhaps this feature for uuid_fileman would be useful too, so you could file it as a feature request. I expected it to try to reach all candidates relatively soon (trickle). In the source code I saw that there are four ICE types: ICE_GOOGLE_JINGLE ICE_VANILLA ICE_CONTROLLED ICE_LITE What is behind them, and how can I select them from the "outside"? Or am I on the wrong track? What to do, that the FreeSwitch serves the candidates according to Trickle? I have the same result for mod_sofia and mod_verto (is clear, they use the same media stack). Then any new inbound calls that come into the server get stuck in initial status, new inbound get stuck at RINGING. This happens until the max sessions are hit and of course nothing else works from there. Our thought is something is creating a lock and stopping anything else from progressing. We are seeing the stuck sessions using "show channels". Doing a uuid_kill on the calls seems to make no difference to the output of "show channels", but we have noticed in the logs that some events do happen to some of the calls. We had ran into a similar issue when writing a custom C module and made some mistakes with session_rwlock etc. But in this case, all of this is using LUA. Some general information: FreeSWITCH Versions 1.10.6 and 1.10.1 Modules used: LUA, xml_curl(dialplan), event_socket, Most of this is just application playing audio files and or creating a new call to bridge to. Really looking for some help on what debugging we can enable to help identify what is getting stuck to identify where a bug might be on our usage or possible issue with FreeSWITCH. We have captured a core dump of the running process when it got into the bad state as well, if that is helpful, we can send it in. Thank you for your help. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
