[Freeswitch-users] Freetdm group

Michael,

My previous response should have been directed at Matt. Oh well, it seems he has sorted this out. So all is good.

I must admit it has been a little frustrating trying to get Sangoma to merge their changes from their FreeTDM 1.9.0 build with FreeSWITCH since they do have the free ability to do so (as you said). Unfortunately it is a lower priority and can only be scheduled in for after July this year. I have this information from Nenad Corbic (their VP of Engineering) so they are on the case. Obviously their support department are fully aware of this and always direct people to their FreeTDM 1.9.0 build (hence my PDF (which Sangoma have)).

The other difficulty is in order for their FreeTDM 1.9.0 build to work it involves changes to some of the core FreeSWITCH source code & headers, which also means each time I update to a new FreeSWITCH production release (like 1.4.18 to 1.4.19) I have to manually update the core FreeSWITCH files and then build.

I have stressed to Sangoma that they should (at the very least) keep FreeSWITCH core files merged and up-to-date (ie. the files outside of /libs/freetdm) when any changes are done to FreeTDM, otherwise it makes it very messy from everyone’s perspective.

Hopefully later this year everything will be back on track and I aim to provide any assistance I can to make using Sangoma cards with FreeSWITCH as simple as possible. Hence the PDF (which is a start). This helps my consultancy business and the fact that my business is a registered Sangoma reseller in Australia.

Cheers,

I can not in any way understand why sangoma would have any important bug fixes still not committed to our tree when they have free ability to do so at any time. If this is the case, all sangoma users should be calling them and asking that this gets fixed immediately. Until this is resolved I think it's best we just redirect this and any sangoma related issue directly to their support channels.

Michael,

I will be performing similar tests in about one months’ time. Until then I do not have access to a Sangoma card plugged into an E1 trunk to assist with a real world test. The cards I use are the A104DE running Euro-ISDN in the UK off BT. I am based in Melbourne, Australia.

There are some important bug fixes in Sangoma’s FreeTDM and you should use the Sangoma updated version. In order to fast-track the changes I have created a ZIP file on my FTP site and a PDF document (see attached) to setup the latest production release of FreeSWITCH (version 1.4.19) on CentOS 6.6 with the Sangoma updated FreeTDM 1.9.0. It may help.

Regarding Sangoma support, I can only recommend it. It is free with their digital cards so I suggest you register online on their web-site and make use of it. Also please be aware that the Wanpipe drivers R&D is done in Canada (where Sangoma’s head office is based) and the FreeTDM/FreeSWITCH integration is done mostly in India.

Sangoma hope to merge FreeTDM (with the fixes) with FreeSWITCH in August/September this year.

Sorry I cannot provide a quick fix just yet.

Hi Michael,

I tried following both the sangoma wiki and freeswitch confluence pages when setting up the card.
Sangoma support would be my last resort, but I was hoping that someone on this list would have some hints or tips as to where I was going wrong :)

The card itself works fine, but what I need is to be able to send outbound calls and not have to worry about checking to see what port has free lines available.
>From reading the wikis I think this is possible by grouping the spans.

thanks
Matt

You might want to check with sangoma support or their wiki on this if its not well documented on our wiki

Hi Vallimamod,

thanks for your response. regarding the hunting order.

With regards to the group, I can't see in any of the files that group is
mentioned or referenced other than, as you say, freetdm.conf.
I have created the conf file manually and gave the spans different names
than wp1 and wp2 but this causes the mod_freetdm to not load correctly
stating that the spans cannot be found.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I am happy to have the spans named
as they are by wancfg_fs but I would like them to be grouped

thanks
Matt
