If you need just a few licenses, the $10 per channel is not going to set you back much at all.  If you need large numbers of licenses, you can get something like a Digium TCE400B transcoding board for less than $900 which will give you 120 channels of G729 and offload your CPU at the same time.  This works out to less than $7,50 per channel.
