I had a conversation with a member on this list about what to use for 
scripting: lua, perl. java. Ended up that lua is the fastest in its own. 
For doing simple things, even IVR's, lua is enough. And lua is installed 
with FS.

I use lua to connect to DB and don't see any performance drop.
