I didn't realize a reply would start a new thread.

I am not *nix illiterate, it is just more like an "English as a second
language" relationship.  I just need someone to point the direction, as you
did.

The problem is that if you're not comfortable with *nix, you might not be
able to install them :/

Here are a lot of interesting commandline tools that you can run (no setup
required):

If nothing else, they'll give you a feel for what's available to monitor.
