In general,
Asterisk and freeswitch are telephony servers like traditional PBXs but
with a lot of features and transport is carried over internet protocol
(VOIP)

TrixBox is a GUI version of Asterisk

SER, OpenSER:
these are Sip express routers that only deal with sip messages and can
provide features like voicemail, call recording etc. They are often used
for scaling Asterisk and Freeswitch at large (for thousands of calls)
