Not sure in "which" way you want to know this. From fs_cli you can try:

> vm_list user at domain xml

This gives you an xml-output of all messages of this user - saved/read mails have an read_epoch-value, unread messages have a read_epoch-value of 0, e.g.:

freeswitch at internal> vm_list 200 at 192.168.0.4 xml <voicemail>  <message>
  <created_epoch>1307630009</created_epoch>
  <read_epoch>0</read_epoch>
  <username>200</username>
  <domain>192.168.0.4</domain>
  <folder>inbox</folder>
  <path>/usr/local/freeswitch/storage/voicemail/default/192.168.0.4/200/msg_60c27a70-92a5-11e0-8b2f-fd7505ade349.wav</path>
  <uuid>60c27a70-92a5-11e0-8b2f-fd7505ade349</uuid>
  <cid-name>Jim Doe</cid-name>
  <cid-number>300</cid-number>
 </message>
 <message>
  <created_epoch>1307348316</created_epoch>
  <read_epoch>1307629941</read_epoch>
  <username>200</username>
  <domain>192.168.0.4</domain>
  <folder>inbox</folder>
  <path>/usr/local/freeswitch/storage/voicemail/default/192.168.0.4/200/msg_775fa510-9015-11e0-88e7-fd7505ade349.wav</path>
  <uuid>775fa510-9015-11e0-88e7-fd7505ade349</uuid>
  <cid-name>John Doe</cid-name>
  <cid-number>100</cid-number>
 </message>
</voicemail>
