cannot confirm this:

* stopped freeswitch
* moved core.db to core.db.symlinked
* ln -s core.db.symlinked core.db
* start freeswitch
* file-list:
root       root        17 Jun  3 12:11 core.db -> core.db.symlinked
freeswitch daemon  144384 Jun  3 12:11 core.db.symlinked

core.db still symlinked to core.db.symlinked
