[Freeswitch-users] Bash commands not found

I am completely new to freeswitch and have just installed it on a Centos 
5.5 server. All seemed well but when in the freeswitch cli, no Bash 
Commands are found. So /help will return Unknown Command.

Any help with this would be appreciated and please go easy on me with 
the jargon!!
