Hi list, On my old athlonXP-2600+, FS sessions max is 1000 & session limit is 30 (I guess connection per second?.) How does it translate in the real world? Is it going down a lot if I've got many transcoding channels (let's say iLBC internal transcoding to G711 external) I know it couldn't be a sharp answer, but I need to have an idea of what is possible (or not.) -- This fortune is false.
Jean-Yves, the max sessions and max cps in FS are arbitrary values, configured in switch.conf.xml. All default installs of FS have the same. The purpose of those values, that you are supposed to customize, is to protect FS against the worse (imagine you know you absolutely never exceed 20cps, if you set max cps to 30, you would protect yourself against burst of INVITEs from unknown locations/attackers). For sessions max, there is no theoratical way at the moment to predict how many calls a server would handle. It depends on the CPU, on the architecture of the server, on the type of RTP-forwarding you do, the type and amount of transcoding you do,etc... You will have to discover that by yourself, for instance by doing load tests with sipp. It would be interesting if people share their own real-life results on the wiki. Arghh, at this time I didn't greped the code (actually my son will do it: he's the programer) - I thought it was the result of tests that FS shows at start.

Ok, I already find it (also found sipbomber) because I thought I would have such an answer :)

Yep, definitely Merci David -- Don't drop acid -- take it pass/fail. -- Seen in a Ladies' Room at Harvard
