Hello How many concurrent calls have you guys been able to squeeze through FreeSwitch? I just need a pointer, not exact numbers. //Jonas
Jonas, That all depends on what you're doing. If you don't handle the media you can get more. But we do have someone in the community that reports 2500+ calls on a woodcrest xeon box. Example on my MacBook Pro I can do 2500 calls with media but then I hit the threading limit of the OS which is 2560 but thats a hard limit. I'll let others chime in on this also. /b On Mar 1, 2007, at 6:57 AM, Jonas Gauffin wrote:

I got about 2500 single legged ulaw calls, doing media playback a slinear file (answer play a file, hangup) on a 2.8Ghz P4 w/ 1G ram (Dell SC430) Note: I did have to load the media file into a ram drive to keep disk access times reasonable... Load was generated using SIPP and media quality was checked using xlite, and a polycom SPIP500 since sipp doesn't really give you an indication of how good the media is. I would suspect that had I not been handling media I could have handled a larger volume of calls.

Why so? You media file should have been already cached in the memory after first access, so no more disk access more the given media file... No?

I was dealing with limited memory... On the machine... So to eliminate possibility of cache misses just loaded it into a small ramdrive... Also FS doesn't load the entire file into memory it grabs what it needs... If you were streaming a large file you could consume a ton of memory
Very interesting... Have you the call duration (and duration of your clip) ? How many CAPS have you ? Do you have the DTMF mode inband activated (audio processing) ? Can you give a "top" dump (%CPU, %IDLE, %IOW, %memory ...) ? Thanks Tech Selon Ken Rice <krice@suspicious.org>:
