Ok guys, I am a newbie in VOIP stuff and in freeswitch of course. I got the freeswitch book and installed freeswitch 1.0.6 in my windows 7 pro rig. I also installed XLite 4 but when I try to register the extension is telling me: "Acount failed to enable" SIP 408 error. I am sure I stoped my firewall and even with that I am getting same error. I have not changed anything from the default configuration, the extension I am trying to register is extension 1000, with password 1234. ¿Could you help me please? Thanks in advance.
Welcome to FreeSWITCH and VoIP! I hope you don't get scared away too easily. :) First question: is your xlite on the same computer as your FreeSWITCH install? Usually you don't want your softphone and FS to be on the same computer, however if you are simply doing some testing and trying to learn then it should be okay. Here is where the fun begins. A SIP 408 means that the request timed out, so the xlite is sending messages to the FS server and is not getting anything back. Be sure that you use the correct IP address. The best thing to do would be to start fs_cli.exe (which connects you to the FS command line) and then type this command: eval ${domain} It should return an IP address - use that IP address in the xlite account configuration. Let us know how it goes! -MC On Fri, Oct 7, 2011 at 2:05 PM, Francisco Javier Cintrón Olguín < fcintrono@gmail.com> wrote:

On a side note as well one thing I noticed when testing freeswitch on windows 7 is I have always run it using the run as administrator to ensure it can bind to things properly, otherwise it sometimes seems to act all funky weird. Thank you for your help. Well, Yes I installed Xlite in the same windows 7 rig in which I installed freeswitch. And yes I am trying to learn what is VOIP, I read that freeswitch could run in windows so I bought freeswitch book and here I am trying to understand it. this is the answer of the eval command: 10.10.100.31 I put this IP in my xlite account, in fact I put 127.0.0.1 too, but it always failing with SIP 408 code. I changed freeswitch to run with administrator account, but I am getting same SIP 408 error. ¿What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance. Have a nice day. Are you sure you have access to the ports 5060 and 5080? It sounds like windows firewall may be blocking them. You can set an exception in windows firewall to allow access. hope that helps.... jack On 10/8/2011 8:32 AM, Francisco Javier Cintrón Olguín wrote:
