how to check that my freeswitch is correctly installed

hii, I have installed the freeswitch 1.2 on my ubuntu 12.04 machine. Now how will make sure that freeswitch has been installed correctly on my ubuntu machine. Do i need to connect it with a LAN (local) and c install a softphone to check or there is some other method as well ?

And yes, trusted users (you) connect to the internal profile. For an installation on your local machine this could be 127.0.0.1:5060. -- EL
