Hi Brian, i thought if i can stream from portaudio it is almost the same with streaming from file, so it should working already now. Is this not the design idea of channels and media to do so? regards, thomas PS: sry for improper formatted mail, i cant reply at the moment and have to copy mail from archive :( ________________________________

esf is for multi cast paging... it currently won't let you play files... we would have to create a multicast playback application. /b On Feb 12, 2009, at 8:00 AM, Sluschny, Thomas wrote:
Hi,
i want to stream a file per IP multicast with mod_esf.
I can stream IP multicast with: pa call stream XML and in XML dialplan: <extension name="stream"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^stream$"> <action application="answer"/> <action application="esf_page_group" data="224.168.168.168 34567"/> <action application="esf_page_group" data=""/> </condition> </extension> and i can also play files with 'playback' app,
BUT: how can put these 2 things together?
May be its trivial, but i cant get it make working with 'originate' or 'uuid_broadcast' or 'bridge', 'transfer' and so on ...
Thanks in advance, Thomas
You could but I think you want to stream RTP to a multicast it would be better off building an rtp format mod so you can record rtp:// x.x.x.x:5000 and play from rtp://y.y.y.y:5000 /b On Feb 12, 2009, at 10:12 AM, Sluschny, Thomas wrote:

I was looking for such functionality, but unfortunately it seems not present right now, I am willing to build the rtp format mod as described by Brian., and will provide back to trunk. Although I have modified mod_skel application for use in dialplan in custom application, I need to have a basic understanding regarding format mod. Thanks Brian, Great... Let me start the developing it. Although I am analyzing the mod_local_stream, to understand exact working of format module, Will anybody please let me know any similar thing, I can take reference? On Fri, Jan 8, 2010 at 8:21 PM, Brian West <brian@freeswitch.org> wrote:

Hello, I am now looking into the code from few days to create the RTP Multicast Listener first. Is this something similar coding as mod_esf need to do here to listen on the Multicast IP & Port? Or I need to use combination some rtp related function of (switch_rtp.c) here? I think this not proper place to discuss here, let me know where should I continue further discussion. -MohammedShehzad
Listening on multicast is noting special for multicast, it is just like reading any other udp socket Mike On Feb 19, 2010, at 1:09 AM, MohammedShehzad <pmhshz@gmail.com> wrote:

Correct, but I have to play those audio stream back to caller taking care of the audio codec and other things, do anybody have any idea in that part? Please let me know that. --

I am able to receive the play the multicasted RAW PCMU RTP (modified the skel of format provided by brian), so that caller can hear the multicast which done by other Freeswitch server using mod_esf application, but when i change the caller's codec from PCMU to something else, it breaks. -- -MohammedShehzad
You will need to create the codec for what you need, I think it is hardcoded in there to PCMU at the moment, correct? This will of course need to match the stream its reading. Mike On Feb 20, 2010, at 12:50 AM, MohammedShehzad wrote:

Yes, PCMU is hardcoded currently from multicaster. I looked into mod_sndfile for decoding PCMU to other codec, but it seems that module is using libsndfile, which reads sound file directly and decode them to L16. If something similar to libsndfile is available, which work on stream instead of file io, then it would surely work. I don't know how exactly Freeswitch's codec structures & functions work, I am sure decoding can be done by using that, but don't know how to use them. You would just change the PCMU to whatever codec you want. This should have nothing to do with file io, take a look at the line that has PCMU hardcoded, thats all you should need to change. Mike On Feb 22, 2010, at 1:47 AM, MohammedShehzad wrote:

Actually I don't want to change anything from Multicaster, I am talking about the changes required on Listener side (the format module I am going to develo). I think I should discuss further on developer's mailing list, please let me know you ideas there. Thanks for your response. On Mon, Feb 22, 2010 at 12:49 PM, Michael Jerris <mike@jerris.com> wrote:
